Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest individual and President of the Dangote Group, has seen his net worth increase to $30.2 billion, according to a report released by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
The latest data from Bloomberg ranked Dangote as the 75th richest person in the world.
Dangote holds the majority stake in Dangote Cement Plc, the largest cement manufacturer in sub-Saharan Africa, which is listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited.
In addition, he owns Dangote Refinery, the biggest oil refining complex in Africa.
Dangote Oil Refinery, inaugurated on May 22, 2023, is valued at $20 billion and remains his most valuable asset. Dangote controls a 92.3 per cent share in the refinery, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, owns 7.3 per cent.
The refinery, located in Ibeju-Lekki, has been a major contributor to the recent surge in Dangote’s net worth.
