The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued comprehensive instructions for candidates preparing to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Shared via its official social media channels, the guidelines aim to help prospective candidates avoid common mistakes and register smoothly.
Candidates are urged to verify their personal details carefully, including their National Identification Number (NIN), email address, and any A-Level results, before generating their profile code.
To get this code, candidates must send their 11-digit NIN to designated numbers (55019 or 66019). Once generated, the profile code cannot be altered since it pulls data directly from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
JAMB emphasises that registration should only take place at authorised CBT centres or official JAMB offices.
Candidates must purchase their E-PINs solely from approved banks, online portals, or accredited vendors to avoid fraud.
The board also advises candidates to review all submitted information carefully, as mistakes could lead to significant complications.
Early correction of any discrepancies with NIMC records, including names, dates of birth, gender, or state of origin, is essential to ensure the correct data appears on the registration portal.
Additional instructions include using unique and functional email addresses and phone numbers since these cannot be shared or changed after registration begins.
Candidates experiencing biometric issues are encouraged to visit a JAMB office, as no CBT centre is permitted to forcibly capture fingerprints.
Lastly, a dual-screen setup is recommended during registration to confirm that passport photos and biometric data are accurately recorded.
Following these guidelines will help candidates complete the registration process without unnecessary hurdles or delays.
