Abuja Court Sites Set for June Finish – Wike
Nyesom Wike on Thursday toured three construction sites in Abuja and said new Magistrate Court buildings across the capital will be ready by June 2026.
The FCT Minister said contractors are on track and that the facilities are part of efforts to strengthen the justice system.
The inspection began in Asokoro, where he admitted the terrain has slowed work but expressed confidence that the challenge will be handled.
“I’ve seen the level of work, even though the topography is very bad. It’s a problem, but we’ll overcome it,” he said.
From there, he moved to Jabi, where groundwork for a new court complex began in late 2025, before ending the tour in Garki. Impressed by the pace of construction, he stated, “You can see how far this has gone.
The projects also include 40 homes for judges serving at the FCT High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court.
Wike described the plan as a step towards providing “definitive accommodation” and better court facilities, adding, “Judicial arm of government is very critical in ensuring prompt administration of justice.
There’s no particular reason we must pay attention to one sector and leave other critical sectors unattended to.”
He noted that major road links from the Airport Expressway to Kuje and Gwagwalada are also expected to be completed by June 2026.
