ADC Chairman Suspended Over Abeokuta Incident
The African Democratic Congress in Ogun State has suspended its chairman, Femi Soluade, after passing a vote of no confidence in him.
The decision followed claims that he led armed men to disrupt the governorship declaration of Jimi Lawal in Abeokuta on Saturday.
At a meeting held on February 15, 2026, at the party secretariat, the State Executive Committee reviewed the allegations and agreed to suspend him pending investigation.
The party said the incident at the Intercontinental Hotel in Ibara caused panic during what was meant to be a peaceful gathering.
The party announced that the deputy chairman, Prince Adedeji Abiodun, will act as state chairman while a disciplinary panel looks into the matter.
The panel has been given 14 days to submit its report and recommendations.
The party said the step was taken to protect discipline and unity within its ranks, urging members to remain calm. Soluade, however, dismissed the suspension, describing it as a joke and saying he would respond soon.
