Adeleke Accuses Oyetola Of Sabotage
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, of working through federal institutions to weaken local government administration in the state.
He made the claim during a state broadcast shared on Monday, pointing to what he described as an ongoing crisis affecting grassroots governance.
The dispute centres on local government secretariats across Osun, which Adeleke said have remained occupied by All Progressives Congress chairmen and councillors whose elections were nullified by the courts.
Adeleke explained that fresh local government elections were held in February 2025 following court directives, with new officials sworn in shortly after.
The governor also raised concerns over local government funds, saying statutory allocations had been withheld since February 2025.
He claimed about N130 billion remained unpaid and alleged that attempts were made to reroute the funds through accounts opened by unauthorised individuals, with some bank officials already facing prosecution.
As a result, the state government has reportedly been covering salaries for teachers, health workers, and council staff by borrowing, while other allowances remain unpaid.
He urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, promising to continue defending the constitution and protecting workers and residents across the state.
