Adeleke Faces Civil Service Backlash
A civil society group, Dialogue 365, has criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke for repeatedly extending the tenure of Osun State’s Head of Service and Accountant-General.
The group said these extensions are discouraging to other civil servants and undermine career growth within the state’s workforce.
Dialogue 365 pointed out that the Head of Service, Samuel Aina, and Accountant-General, Rasheed Alabi, were first appointed in 2022, had their terms extended in 2024, and are set to end in January 2026.
The group warned that further extensions would amount to tyranny and harm staff morale.
The group also noted growing discontent among civil servants, warning that continued extensions could reduce productivity and commitment to duties.
Dialogue 365 stressed that many qualified personnel are available to assume these roles, but opportunities are being denied by repeated renewals.
The organisation has called on Osun veterans and state leaders to advise the governor against extending the duo’s tenure, urging a review of key appointments to restore fairness and motivation within the civil service.
