APC Chairman Speaks On Defections
The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Goshwe, has said the ruling party is not desperate to absorb every governor in the country if it means weakening internal unity.
He made the remark while speaking on recent political realignments across states.
Goshwe explained that while the APC remains open to new members, the party is more concerned about retaining its current governors than boasting of total dominance.
According to him, stability within the party matters more than numbers gained through defections.
He stated, “We don’t mind if all the governors in Nigeria join the APC, we wouldn’t be happy to lose even one governor to the opposition”, stressing that loyalty and shared goals are key to the party’s strength.
The APC chairman added that the party’s focus is on governance and consolidation rather than political showmanship, noting that keeping its existing base intact is a priority as the political landscape continues to shift.
