APC Defends Wike Over Shooting Remark
An All Progressives Congress chieftain in Rivers State has accused opposition figures of twisting a remark made by Nyesom Wike during a television interview.
Princewill Dike said critics were using the comment to attack the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, Dike said the “shoot” remark was not meant to be taken literally, describing it as a casual expression in a media discussion. He argued that political opponents had taken it out of context to create tension.
He also criticised the media team of Atiku Abubakar, accusing them of turning what he called a simple figure of speech into a claim of violence. According to him, such reactions show a lack of strong arguments on policy issues.
Dike urged Nigerians to ignore what he described as attempts to stir controversy, adding that public discourse often includes expressions that should be understood within context.
He maintained that democracy depends on honest debate, not misrepresentation.
