APC Takes Full Control Of Yobe Assembly
In Yobe State, the All Progressives Congress has taken full control of the State House of Assembly after the Minority Leader, Sadiq Attajiri, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Attajiri, who represents Bade Central Constituency, was the last PDP member in the Assembly before his defection, effectively leaving the legislature without opposition lawmakers.
The move was confirmed after he met with former Senate President Ahmad Lawan in Abuja.
Lawan linked the development to the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Attajiri’s decision followed weeks of consultations with political allies and constituents. He is expected to formally announce his defection in Gashua.
The PDP had earlier lost ground in the Assembly after another lawmaker defected, and with this latest move, the APC now holds all 24 seats in the legislature.
The development marks a major shift in Yobe politics, as the Assembly now operates without any opposition presence.
