A tragic incident occurred on New Year’s Day in Agbor, Delta State, following the death of a Catholic priest who reportedly collapsed while delivering a homily.
According to reports from the area, the priest, Rev. Steve Chukwuma of St Joseph Catholic Church, slumped from the pulpit during the service.
Eyewitnesses stated that the 63-year-old clergy was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
Members of the parish described him as cheerful, caring, and deeply concerned about people and their well-being.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said he could not confirm the development when contacted on Friday, explaining that “they may not have reported the matter to the police.”
