Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the President of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) to constitute a team of medical experts to evaluate the health status of Biafra agitator, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The court directed the committee to submit its report within eight days to help determine whether Kanu should be moved to the National Hospital for treatment.
Justice Omotosho instructed that the team must visit the Department of State Services (DSS) hospital to verify its capacity to cater to Kanu’s medical needs, adding that the committee is free to use any hospital in the country for its assessment.
The panel is to be made up of eight to ten NMA members, including a cardiologist, a neurologist, and the Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital.
The ruling comes after conflicting medical reports were presented by the DSS and Kanu’s private doctors.
