Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre through all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, marking a major step in its drive to make fuel more affordable and stabilise the downstream petroleum sector.

The refinery said the new price will be reflected across more than 2,000 MRS outlets nationwide, ensuring widespread access to the reduced rate. It praised marketers who have already adopted the pricing and called on others to align with the initiative in support of national economic recovery.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the refinery said.

Fuel shortages and price spikes are common during the festive season, but Dangote Refinery described its latest move as a strong market intervention, cutting pump prices during a period usually marked by hardship for consumers. The initiative is supported by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, significantly reshaping fuel availability during the holidays.

By refining fuel locally on a large scale, the refinery is reducing Nigeria’s reliance on global market fluctuations, saving foreign exchange, supporting the naira and improving national energy security. The steady supply and price reduction are expected to ease pressure on households, businesses and transport operators across the country.

The refinery also warned against any attempt to create artificial scarcity in reaction to the price cut, urging regulatory agencies to act firmly against such practices.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

Consumers were advised not to buy fuel at inflated prices when cheaper options are available.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide. Report any MRS station selling above ₦739 per litre by calling 0800 123 5264,” the refinery said.

Dangote Refinery also appealed to other petrol station operators to patronise its products so the benefits of the price reduction can be extended nationwide, promoting stability in the downstream market.

Reaffirming its long-term commitment, the refinery said its operations are focused on steady supply, price stability and national energy security rather than short-term market gains.

“Our objective remains clear: to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports,” the refinery concluded.
