Residents of Dansadau town in Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, on Wednesday reportedly confronted and attacked state lawmaker Kabiru Mikailu over alleged neglect of his constituency.
Mikailu, representing Maru South Constituency in the Zamfara State House of Assembly, was allegedly targeted while accompanying Governor Dauda Lawal on a visit to the community. Locals accused him of failing to engage with the area since his election, citing his absence from Sallah celebrations and lack of support for families affected by repeated bandit attacks.
Security personnel stepped in to restore order and prevent further escalation.
Governor Lawal’s visit marked the commencement of the reconstruction of the 90-kilometre Dansadau–Gusau road. He also directed the rehabilitation of the town’s General Hospital and the installation of solar-powered electricity to improve local infrastructure and living conditions.
The governor assured residents of his administration’s commitment to rebuilding critical infrastructure, enhancing security, and improving the welfare of communities affected by insecurity across Zamfara State.
During the visit, Governor Lawal was honoured with the Chieftaincy Title of Garkuwan Dansadau and turbaned by the Emir of Dansadau, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, Sarkin Kudu Dansadau.
