Emirates Airlines has announced plans to resume flight operations to Nigeria, marking the end of nearly two years of suspension on the route.
This was revealed in a statement by the airline’s Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, on Thursday.
“We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. We thank the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route, and we look forward to welcoming passengers back on board,” the statement said.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) had stopped issuing visas to Nigerians in 2022 after Emirates suspended flights between both countries due to difficulties in repatriating funds from Nigeria.
Emirates, which has long been a preferred airline for Nigerian travellers, said it is eager to reconnect passengers to Dubai and to over 140 destinations worldwide with the resumption of its services.
The development follows a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held in September last year in Abu Dhabi.
