PDP Takes Aim at Project Launches
In Akwa Ibom State, the Peoples Democratic Party has asked Governor Umo Eno to focus more on finishing projects instead of organising elaborate ceremonies to launch them.
The call came on Sunday through the party’s Advocates for Peace and Justice as the governor flagged off the construction of a CNG bus terminal in Uyo.
The disagreement centres on the Ibom CNG mass transit project, which has been promised for months.
The terminal’s construction began about ten months after official approval and four months after the governor announced the purchase of 50 CNG buses meant to operate from the facility.
Raising concerns, PDP group said the project launch reflects a pattern of publicity without quick results. He added that many residents are frustrated by repeated ground-breaking events that do not quickly improve daily life.
The party said public funds should go into projects that are properly planned, delivered on time and useful to the people.
It said Akwa Ibom residents want completed and working projects, not constant ceremonies, and urged the governor to reduce distractions and focus on outcomes that can be clearly seen and felt.
