The incident happened during an official state visit when Tinubu arrived for a ceremony alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The visit was part of diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Turkey.

As the president walked during the reception, he lost his balance and fell. Security officials and aides close by immediately moved in to help him up, and the programme continued without disruption.

The video of the moment circulated widely on social media, triggering concern and speculation about the president’s condition.

In response, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, dismissed fears, saying, “The President is currently addressing the press; he is fine.”

Further assurance came from the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, who stated on his X page, “President Tinubu in great shape as state visit proceeds smoothly.

President Tinubu, after a stately welcome ceremony in Ankara, proceeded to scheduled bilateral meetings with President of Turkey and other senior government officials from both countries.
