Following the distressing incident involving his daughter Comfort Emmanson at the airport, her father, Godwin Emmanson Mbok, has spoken out, expressing deep shock, anger, and frustration
In an emotional interview, he recounted his reaction upon seeing the viral footage of Comfort being forcibly removed from the Ibom Air flight. “The first day I saw this thing, I didn’t know what to do. I had tried all my courage to send my child to school on my own. I didn’t understand why it would happen this way. Is it because I don’t have money? Because I don’t have enough? Even now, I’m so provoked, I don’t know exactly what to say,” he said.
Godwin lamented the humiliation his daughter suffered, adding, “They stripped my child naked. She didn’t steal. She didn’t do anything. The children were just arguing. How can you strip somebody’s child naked? Who posted it? How did this happen?”
The father also expressed his emotional turmoil, saying, “As I’m sitting here, I’m not myself. I don’t feel like eating. I can’t focus on anything. They tarnish our image. I don’t know how these people will pay my bills.”
He questioned the role of authorities, asking, “What has the government done about this? Is it because of our religion? No one is addressing it. I’m not happy about this. The situation must be properly handled.”
Godwin concluded by highlighting the sacrifices he has made for his daughter and his determination for justice: “I tried my best to raise her. Look at what I did for my child. This should never have happened. There must be accountability.”
His statement underscores the emotional and psychological toll the incident has taken on Comfort Emmanson’s family and highlights the urgent need for proper investigation and redress.
“How can an Ibom Air hostess strip my daughter nåked just because of a little misunderstanding on their plane and tårnish our image? Is it because I don’t have money or anybody in power?”
