FG Clears Ambassadors For Duty
The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued Letters of Credence to three ambassadors-designate, authorising them to represent the country abroad.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, presented the documents in Abuja on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The envoys are Aminu Dalhatu for the United Kingdom, Ayodele Oke for France, and Jimoh Ibrahim as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
The presentation formally clears the diplomats to take up their roles once host countries grant approval.
The minister explained that Letters of Credence serve as official documents from a head of state, introducing ambassadors and granting them authority to act on behalf of their country in foreign missions.
The move follows the President’s approval of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners after Senate confirmation in December 2025.
According to presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, the list includes both career and non-career diplomats deployed to various countries.
Officials said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun preparations for the envoys ahead of their postings.
The diplomats are expected to resume duties after completing induction and securing acceptance from their host nations.
