Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has identified four essential pillars to combat Nigeria’s growing security problems: intelligence, training, equipment, and technology.
Speaking on Sunday during The Toyin Falola Interviews, Obasanjo stressed that insecurity now affects all parts of the country and requires a modern, unified response.
He emphasised the need to strengthen intelligence services, improve security forces’ training, provide adequate equipment, and adopt advanced technology to effectively fight insecurity.
“When I mention intelligence, training, equipment, and technology, I mean serious commitment,” Obasanjo said. “Above all, we need the right attitude to decisively confront insecurity.”
He also urged the federal government to avoid neglecting any region and called for national unity and international cooperation to address the crisis.
“Insecurity is a nationwide problem affecting every region. If our government needs help, it should seek international support. We are part of the global community, and peace in Nigeria matters to the world,” he added.
Obasanjo further warned about the rising number of out-of-school children, noting that ignoring this trend could worsen future security challenges.
