Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has appointed five Special Advisers, including two former commissioners who previously served in his administration.

The appointment comes barely 72 hours after he reshuffled his cabinet, which included the redeployment of the Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green, to the Ministry of Justice as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, it was stated that Green would continue to oversee the activities of the Ministry of Sports until a substantive Commissioner for Sports is appointed.

Among the newly appointed Special Advisers are Prof Peter Medee, who earlier served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, a former Commissioner for Works.

It will be recalled that both Medee and Tasie-Amadi were affected by the recent Supreme Court judgment, which recognised Martin Amaewhule as the legitimate Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The five appointees are scheduled to be sworn in on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, at noon.

“The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of the following persons as Special Advisers: Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Professor Peter Medee, Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Hon. Victor Ekaro and Dr Darlington Oji.

“The appointees will be formally sworn in on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, at 12:00 noon prompt.

“Those to be sworn in are expected to be seated by 11:30 a.m.,” a statement by the State Ministry of Information said.
