Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has formally crossed over to the All Progressives Congress, sealing one of the state’s most anticipated political moves.
He confirmed his switch on Tuesday at a stakeholder meeting in Government House, describing the decision as one taken “in the best interest of Rivers people.”
Fubara said he already has President Bola Tinubu’s approval, an endorsement he noted clears the way for his full integration into the ruling party.
His defection comes after weeks of speculation fuelled by his frequent visits to the President and the earlier move by 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who had already dumped the PDP.
