Group Backs Tinubu’s Son In Lagos 2027 Talk
A civic group has thrown its weight behind Seyi Tinubu as a possible candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, arguing that his background and experience make him a strong option for the state.
The endorsement was announced on Thursday in Oshodi, Lagos, by the Independent Civic Movement for Project Seyi Tinubu.
The group’s coordinator, Rabiu Adeniran, said the movement has begun mobilising support across Lagos and is gathering 100,000 signatures from residents urging Tinubu to join the race.
He said Tinubu, a member of the All Progressives Congress, meets all constitutional requirements, including the age limit, and has the capacity to govern.
Adeniran noted that while the final decision rests with the APC leadership and party primaries, supporters believe Tinubu deserves a chance like any other aspirant.
He dismissed concerns about his father, President Bola Tinubu, potentially seeking a second term at the same time, saying competence, not family ties, should be the focus in a democracy.
He also rejected claims of political dominance by one family, pointing out that elections are competitive and open to all.
Adeniran said Tinubu’s work in youth mentorship and health initiatives across the country shows readiness for leadership, adding that Lagos needs inclusive and forward-looking governance.
