Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for creating the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
The record-breaking feat followed a widely publicized cook-off that captured attention across social media and beyond.
Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement on its official X account, announcing: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”
The landmark event took place on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. Hilda, who previously set a Guinness World Record in 2023 for the longest cooking marathon, aimed to surpass another extraordinary milestone.
The cook-off was supported by prominent brands and notable personalities, including Funke Akindele, Enioluwa, Tomike, Pastor Idowu, and Bamidele Abiodun, wife of Ogun State Governor. Together, they helped Hilda prepare what is now officially the largest pot of jollof rice ever made.
While the achievement was widely celebrated, some attendees criticized the taste of the rice, sparking discussions online. Despite this, the scale and precision of the event reinforced Hilda’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most bold and innovative culinary talents.
With this second Guinness World Record in under three years, Hilda Baci continues to cement her legacy and showcase Nigerian jollof rice on the global stage, inspiring young Africans with her dedication, ambition, and trailblazing spirit.
