An InDrive driver, James Oluwatosin, has responded to allegations that he conspired with robbers during a ride, after a passenger accused him online.
The controversy began when X user @Big_Itohan shared a screenshot of the driver’s ID, claiming he staged a robbery attempt. She wrote: “If you order a ride and you see him, please cancel. He’ll pretend something is wrong with his car and park so his gang can rob you. All of his door handles except the driver’s side are broken. I literally had to climb out through the driver’s side while he was pretending to fix the light and was on a call.”
Her post quickly went viral, amassing over 5.5 million views, with the driver’s photo and warning being widely shared across WhatsApp, X, TikTok, and other platforms.
After his image trended, James Oluwatosin took to social media to give his side of the story. In a video shared by @JustPaul332117 on X, he denied the allegations, saying he was being framed. He explained that his car had actually broken down and touts approached him demanding money, with the passenger intervening and attempting to negotiate with them.
