The Independent National Electoral Commission has firmly denied reports circulating in certain quarters alleging that the commission has released the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election.

The commission made it clear that the information is false and misleading, stressing that INEC has not released any timetable or schedule of activities for the 2027 General Election.

The commission reiterated that it operates strictly in accordance with the provisions of the law, specifically referencing Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022, which stipulates that the Commission shall publish a Notice of Election no later than 360 days before the date fixed for a general election.

“Any timetable or schedule issued outside this statutory framework cannot emanate from INEC,” a statement signed by Adedayo Oketola, CPS/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, said.

INEC reassured Nigerians that the authentic Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election will be issued at the appropriate time, in full compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and the Electoral Act, 2022.

“When released, it will be communicated through the commission’s established and verified channels,” it added.

The commission appealed to the public and the media to disregard the fake reports and to rely solely on information issued through INEC’s official platforms for credible and authoritative updates.
