INEC Denies Plagiarism Claims
The Independent National Electoral Commission has denied claims that it copied a press statement from a presidential aide.
The response followed reports linking its communication to content earlier shared by a government official.
The controversy began after a statement addressing claims about the chairman’s alleged activity on X surfaced online.
Critics pointed to similarities between INEC’s version and one posted earlier by a presidential aide, raising concerns.
In its reaction, the commission said any circulation of the statement outside its official platforms was done independently.
It insisted its repost was only meant to reinforce information already issued through its own channels.
INEC maintained that it remains neutral and not aligned with any political figure. It urged Nigerians to ignore misleading claims and rely only on verified sources for accurate updates.
