Inside FG Budget For WAEC, JAMB And NECO
The Federal Government has set aside over ₦30 billion for three major examination bodies in the 2026 budget, covering staff costs and projects across the agencies.
The allocation, contained in the Appropriation Act summary, applies to the West African Examinations Council, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, and the National Examinations Council.
The funds are meant to support personnel needs, capital works and other approved expenses for the year.
NECO received the largest share of the allocation, taking more than half of the total sum.
Most of its funding was directed towards staff salaries, with a smaller portion reserved for capital projects. No funds were provided for overhead costs.
WAEC followed with the second-highest allocation, split between its local and international operations.
The funds assigned to WAEC cover salaries, overhead expenses and capital projects, making it the only body among the three to receive money for running costs.
JAMB received just over ₦6.4 billion, with almost all of the funds allocated to personnel expenses and a small amount set aside for capital projects. Like NECO, no overhead costs were approved for the board
