Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader and a key figure in enforcing strict hijab laws, has come under fire after his daughter, Fatemeh Setayesh, married in a strapless wedding dress that exposed her hair and cleavage.
The lavish ceremony, held last year at Tehran’s luxury Espinas Palace Hotel, was captured in a video that recently went viral. The footage also shows Shamkhani’s wife in a backless lace gown and other female guests without hijabs, highlighting a sharp contrast with the strict dress codes imposed on ordinary Iranian women.
Shamkhani, who has overseen harsh crackdowns on women defying hijab rules, now faces public outrage over perceived hypocrisy, with many Iranians criticizing the elite for living by different standards than the general population.
