Labour Party Fixes New Convention Date
The Labour Party has announced a fresh timetable for its congresses and national convention, with a letter sent to the electoral body.
The schedule was submitted by the party’s interim leadership under Nenadi Usman. It outlines activities leading to the election of new national executives.
The process will begin with ward congresses on April 23, followed by local government congresses on April 24.
State congresses are fixed for April 25 across the country, including the Federal Capital Territory. The exercise will end with a national convention on April 28 in Umuahia.
The party said the new dates follow an earlier delay to allow more members take part.
It also noted that the adjustment gives room for the completion of its digital membership registration. Officials said the process will follow electoral laws and existing guidelines.
Labour Party asked the electoral commission to take note of the timetable and monitor the activities.
It also assured members of a transparent and credible process as it prepares for internal elections.
