Lagos Nurses Allege Political Pressure To Support Tinubu
Nurses employed by the Lagos State Government are said to be under pressure to obtain voter cards and back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 polls.
Several sources claimed the move involves subtle demands tied to their jobs, raising concern within the health sector.
Messages seen by reporters urged members to visit a location near the INEC office in Ikeja GRA for voter registration or data updates.
Another post directed nurses to contact a named official and introduce themselves through the LASUTH Nursing Directorate. Members were warned, “Please don’t share this information to anyone who is not a nurse.”
Some nurses alleged that colleagues who had submitted their professional details in the past were being listed as APC members without consent.
The claims come amid wider debate over political neutrality in public service, after the African Democratic Congress accused the APC of pressuring civil servants nationwide to enrol in its membership drive.
The party described the alleged practice as unconstitutional and warned that it threatens the independence of the civil service.
