Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has insisted that his son’s burial cannot proceed until a DNA test is conducted on Mohbad’s child, Liam.
In a video released on Tuesday, Aloba said, “The DNA test is the most important thing. Once it is done, Mohbad will be buried.” He added, “Mohbad will be buried immediately after the DNA test is completed.”
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was initially buried the following day, a move that sparked nationwide outrage. His body was later exhumed for an autopsy amid calls for a detailed investigation into his death. Over two years later, his remains are still held by government authorities.
The demand for a DNA test comes amid ongoing paternity questions. Aloba has stressed that the test must be conducted either in his presence or through a representative to guarantee transparency. He maintains that he alone has the authority to approve the burial and considers the DNA results essential for “closure.”
