Katsina businessman Anas Ahmadu, his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimatu, and their two-year-old daughter have been freed three weeks after their abduction.
The family regained their freedom on Wednesday night, September 17, after spending 21 days in captivity.
A relative told Daily Trust that a ransom of N50 million was paid to secure their release.
“Alhamdulillah! Anas, Halimatu, and their daughter have been released by their captors tonight. They are on their way home. But a ransom of N50 million was paid to the assailants,” the relative said, noting that the pickup location remains undisclosed for security reasons.
The family was abducted on August 26, 2025, from their residence in Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina metropolis.
The kidnappers initially demanded N600 million but later reduced it to N100 million before finally settling for N50 million.
