NAFDAC Sends Warnings On Fake Herceptin
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised a nationwide alarm over a confirmed counterfeit batch of Herceptin 600 mg found circulating in Nigeria.
The drug is commonly used in the treatment of certain types of breast cancer.
The agency warned that the fake product poses serious health risks, as it may not contain the correct active ingredient or meet safety standards.
Patients relying on such medication could face treatment failure or complications.
NAFDAC urged hospitals, pharmacies and the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious batches.
It also advised healthcare providers to source medicines only from verified suppliers and to check product details carefully before use.
The agency said efforts are ongoing to trace the source of the counterfeit batch and remove it from circulation, while tightening surveillance across the supply chain.
