A 27-year-old Nigerian man, Chukwuebuka Eweni, has been arrested by New Orleans police after allegedly stabbing his father to death and injuring his two sisters during a domestic incident on Pebble Street.
Family members told WWL Louisiana that the deceased, Samuel Eweni, was a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans.
Relatives said the attack happened on Tuesday night, with Eweni reportedly stabbing his father and sisters. One sister has since been discharged from the hospital, while the other remains under medical care but is expected to recover.
According to the family, Eweni had struggled with mental health issues for years but had never shown any violent behaviour. They described the evening as normal until he unexpectedly grabbed a knife, adding that they did not know what triggered the outburst.
The New Orleans Police Department confirmed in a statement on Sunday that Eweni had been found in Jefferson Parish.
“Chukwuebuka Eweni has been located in Jefferson Parish. He is currently in law enforcement custody while undergoing medical evaluation at an area facility,” the police said.
The NOPD also released details of the incident, which occurred at about 9:59 pm on 11 November 2025 in the 8000 block of Pebble Street.
Police said officers had responded to a report of “an aggravated battery by cutting” believed to be a domestic situation. On arrival, officers found an unresponsive man with a fatal stab wound and two other adults suffering from stab injuries.
The two survivors were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Detectives confirmed Eweni as the suspect and obtained a warrant for one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the deceased’s identity and the official cause of death after completing the autopsy.

I was curious if you ever considered changing the page layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
