Olumide John Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Seaking, was arraigned on Thursday, September 11, 2025, before a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ogba on a two-count charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
Ogunsanwo pleaded not guilty to both charges, which allege that on December 18, 2024, he posted a video on his TikTok handle, SEAKING 303, urging Nigerian youths and members of the public to attack or throw stones at police officers who stop them or demand to check their phones.
The charges read in part:
- Count 1: Conduct likely to cause breach of the peace by sending an online video inciting violence against police, punishable under Section 168(d)(2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
- Count 2: Provoking breach of the peace of the public by knowingly and intentionally sending the same video, punishable under Section 57 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, representing Ogunsanwo, requested that his client be allowed to continue on his existing bail, noting that he has been consistent in attending court and that the charges constitute simple offences. The court approved the request, allowing Ogunsanwo to remain on bail.
Ogunsanwo was first arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in December 2024 over the TikTok video, which authorities described as incitement to treason.
The case has been adjourned to December 17, 2025, for trial.
