Actress Nkechi Blessing has opened up about the emotional toll of being body shamed after a photo of her natural body was taken without her consent at a Lagos gym and shared online.
During a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Nkechi recounted how a woman secretly snapped her picture, which quickly went viral and attracted negative comments. The actress, who is a mother to a six-year-old son, said the incident left her feeling violated and furious.
“This is my body; this is how I’ve always been. I have a 6-year-old son. You got a BBL and you’re taking pictures of me who has a natural body. Are you stupid, sis?” she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
Nkechi revealed that, after the gym initially refused to provide the identity of the person responsible, she tracked her down and had her arrested.
She stressed her confidence in embracing her natural figure and dressing for her own comfort, not for anyone else. “I didn’t come online for this. You take a picture of me with a natural body—are you serious? I found her, and I got her arrested,” she added, breaking down as she spoke.
Her candid revelation highlights the persistent problem of body shaming and the invasion of privacy in public spaces, while underscoring her determination to stand up for herself.
