NLC Shows Support To FCTA Workers Strike
The Nigeria Labour Congress brought large parts of Abuja to a standstill on Tuesday as it threw its weight behind an indefinite strike by workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
The action took place across major roads and government offices in the city, where labour members blocked access points and disrupted activities to press their demands over unpaid entitlements and unresolved welfare issues affecting FCTA workers.
Union leaders said the shutdown was meant to force urgent government attention, arguing that repeated appeals and negotiations had failed to produce results, leaving workers with no option but to withdraw their services.
The NLC declared its full support for the ongoing strike, saying it would not back down until authorities address the grievances and commit to concrete steps that protect workers’ rights and livelihoods.
As the protest continued, residents and businesses felt the impact of the disruption, while labour groups warned that further actions could follow if the standoff drags on without a clear response from the authorities.
