The founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide and Senior Pastor of the Faith Tabernacle, Bishop David Oyedepo, has announced a seven-day nationwide prayer programme aimed at addressing the worsening insecurity across Nigeria.
The initiative was revealed on Sunday by the Senior Pastor of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche, during his sermon in Abuja.
Enenche explained that Bishop Oyedepo is deeply troubled by the increasing incidents of violence happening across the country. He said the prayer sessions, beginning on Sunday, would hold every night from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m. for the next seven days, with specific prayer points prepared by Oyedepo.
He said, “Our Father in the Lord, Bishop Oyedepo, we have been discussing the situation of our country back and forth. He is very, very bothered and passionate about it, and he has called on like-minded people for us to embark on a seven-day prayer for the nation at midnight. Like from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m., starting tonight.”
The development comes only a day after the Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, declared Monday, 24 November 2025, a statewide day of fasting and prayer for peace across the state and the nation in response to renewed security concerns.
Announcing the fasting and prayer, Zulum said, “As a people of faith, we believe our security strategies must be underpinned by prayer. I, hereby declare Monday, 24th November, 2025, as a Statewide Day of Fasting and Prayer for the restoration of peace in Borno State and the country.”
He appealed to all residents, irrespective of religious belief, to take part and seek divine intervention for lasting peace.
“On this day, I call upon every resident of Borno, regardless of faith, to join in prayer for the lasting peace and prosperity of our beloved state and Nigeria.”
In recent days, multiple abductions have been reported across the northern region, including 25 schoolgirls kidnapped in Maga, Kebbi State; 315 students taken from St Mary Catholic School in Niger State; and several worshippers abducted from a church in Eruku, Kwara State, where two people were killed by bandits during service.
