Police Step In As PDP Feud Deepens
Security operatives in Abuja are preparing to move in as rival groups within the Peoples Democratic Party head for a possible showdown at the party’s national secretariat.
The police say they will act to keep peace ahead of plans by a caretaker group linked to the FCT minister to reopen the Wadata Plaza office on Monday.
The situation has stirred unease within the party following renewed moves by the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led committee to resume activities at the sealed headquarters.
The building was shut in November 2025 after a violent face-off between two competing leadership factions, forcing police intervention.
Leaders of the rival National Working Committee insist the caretaker group has no authority to return to the secretariat.
Police sources say officers will be stationed at the secretariat and nearby areas to stop violence and protect the public.
While the FCT police command says it is yet to receive formal notice of the reopening, it has made clear that it will not allow unrest to erupt again.
