Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has carried out a cabinet adjustment that led to the emergence of a new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Christopher Green was moved from the Ministry of Sports to the Ministry of Justice, where he will now serve as the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He will continue to supervise the Sports Ministry on an interim basis until a new commissioner is appointed.

The office became vacant after the departure of Dagogo Iboroma, SAN, whose exit followed a Supreme Court judgment that resolved the legal aspects of the political crisis in Rivers State.

The ruling nullified the appointment of commissioners screened and confirmed by the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led three-member House of Assembly, effectively creating vacancies within the State Executive Council.

The judgment has reportedly heightened tensions between the executive and legislative arms, making it difficult for the governor to submit fresh nominees for confirmation by the House of Assembly.

To maintain continuity in governance, Governor Fubara opted for an internal reshuffle, reassigning existing commissioners to prevent administrative gaps in critical ministries.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, who said the decision was taken in the interest of stability and effective administration as efforts continue to address lingering political and legislative issues.
