At least six people have died and two others were injured in a serious accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the NASFAT junction in Ogun State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, said the crash occurred around 2:36 pm on Thursday, involving a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck. Preliminary reports indicate that overspeeding caused the collision.
FRSC spokesperson SRC Odunsi Afolabi confirmed that six victims died at the scene, while two others sustained injuries. Some of the injured were taken by bystanders to an unknown hospital before emergency responders arrived, while others were treated at Famobis Hospital, Lotto. The bodies of those killed were moved to a morgue.
The Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Akinwumi O. Fasakin, has ordered a full investigation into the incident. Rescue operations included personnel from the Mowe Unit, Ibafo Outpost, and Ojota Unit Command ambulance teams, alongside police and TRACE officials.
FRSC teams were also involved in clearing the wreckage following the crash.
