ADC Denies Membership Claim
The African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State has rejected claims linking a former senator to its membership, saying the assertion is false and misleading.
The party leadership made this known during a media briefing held in Sokoto on Monday.
The state chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Bello Isiyaku-Keegan, said party membership follows a clear and traceable process that requires proper registration and official records.
According to him, there is no evidence showing that Senator Abubakar Gada ever joined the ADC at any level.
He explained that checks across party registers revealed no record of Gada, who once represented Sokoto East in the Senate between 2007 and 2011 under the Peoples Democratic Party. The party leadership said it was surprised that such a claim could come from a politician with extensive experience in public office.
The ADC chairman also clarified that neither Gada nor former governor Aminu Tambuwal had registered with the party.
He described the situation as an unfortunate example of careless political messaging that could mislead the public and undermine trust in the political process.
Despite the controversy, the ADC said it remains focused on building a platform based on integrity, internal democracy and people-centred governance.
The clarification comes after Gada recently announced his return to the PDP, citing internal challenges within the coalition as he prepares for political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections
