The Chairman of the Presidential Tax Reform Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has dismissed claims that the Federal Government has stopped issuing implementation guidelines for Nigeria’s new tax laws.
Oyedele responded on X on Thursday, addressing a report that suggested uncertainty over the final versions of the tax laws had prompted a pause in government action.
The publication had alleged that Oyedele instructed the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and the Joint Revenue Board (JRB) to delay releasing the guidelines, citing doubts about whether the copies in circulation reflected the official versions. It also claimed that printed copies were being held after the National Assembly reportedly retained all gazetted copies for internal review, amid concerns over discrepancies between versions.
Reacting to the report, Oyedele wrote simply: “Fake news.”
