Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, has returned to Jalingo, the state capital, after being away from public view for about eight months.
Although there has been no official announcement from the state government, a short video of Alkali’s arrival is circulating on social media. Sources told Daily Trust that he flew into the state via Yalo Airport from Abuja before being driven in a four-vehicle convoy to his official residence at Government House.
Alkali, who has reportedly been battling an undisclosed ailment, was said to have briefly entered his office upon arrival. An official in his office, speaking anonymously, confirmed the visit:
“It is today that I was told the Deputy Governor returned to Jalingo unannounced. I did not see him myself, but I was informed he entered his office briefly and met with some senior officers.”
The Deputy Governor currently has no press secretary, and Governor Agbu Kefas’ Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda, said he had not received any official briefing regarding Alkali’s return.
