Tinubu To Swear In Disu As IGP
President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday swear in Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector General of Police.
The Nigeria Police Council approved his appointment on Monday at a meeting in Abuja chaired by the President and attended by top government officials.
The ceremony will hold during the Federal Executive Council meeting. Governors and senior officials present at the council session praised Disu’s career, citing his past roles in Lagos, Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory, where he was known for tackling crime and leading key police units.
Disu’s confirmation comes days after he was named acting IGP following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has served in several commands, most recently as Assistant Inspector General in charge of the Special Protection Unit and the Force CID Annex in Lagos.
Born in 1966, Disu previously worked under Tinubu during his tenure as Lagos State governor.
His swearing in now marks his full transition from acting head of the force to the country’s top police officer.
