The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned passenger Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air cabin crew member Juliana Edward for further investigation into an incident on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, disclosed the development during a Q&A session at the Emergency National Civil Aviation Security Committee and Stakeholders Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
“I have spoken with Ms. Emmanson this morning. We are also inviting the Ibom Air cabin crew for continued investigation on the incident. They will be here tomorrow,” Achimugu said.
He clarified that the pilot did not involve security personnel upon landing in Lagos, as the issue appeared resolved during the flight. However, Emmanson, who reportedly visited the restroom after landing, was the last to disembark.
Assuring transparency, Achimugu emphasized that the NCAA is committed to uncovering all facts surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, linked the rise in misconduct cases in the aviation sector to a decline in discipline among passengers, airport staff, and crew. He stressed the importance of strict adherence to professional standards, commended the NCAA for its enforcement efforts, and called on other aviation agencies to support the authority in maintaining safety and security within the industry.
