Brooklyn Beckham has broken his silence on his feud with his parents, Victoria and David Beckham, saying he has no plans to reconcile and accusing them of spreading lies in the media while interfering in his marriage.
On Monday, January 19, Brooklyn took to Instagram, explaining that he had tried to keep family matters private but felt compelled to speak out after repeated media reports. He said he is now standing up for himself after years of feeling controlled.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”
“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”
Brooklyn also said he grew up dealing with severe anxiety, which he claims has improved since moving away from his parents’ home.
The dispute reportedly involves his younger brother, Cruz. In December, Cruz addressed a Daily Mail story claiming Brooklyn had been unfollowed by their parents on social media, clarifying that the whole family had been blocked. Brooklyn, however, insists his parents used Cruz to target him online.
“Sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last summer,” Brooklyn said.
The BBC reached out to David and Victoria Beckham, the former footballer and Spice Girl, for comment, but neither has responded to their son’s allegations.
