Two Major Lagos Markets Hit By Fire
Two major fires broke out in Lagos during the Easter period, destroying shops and goods worth millions of naira.
The incidents happened at Aluminium Village in Dopemu, Agege, and at Tejuosho Market in Yaba between Friday midnight and early Saturday morning.
The first fire started around midnight at Aluminium Village, where several shops were burnt.
The cause of the blaze was not known at the time, but firefighters moved quickly to contain it and stop it from spreading to nearby buildings.
Emergency teams, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the police, responded to both scenes. Officers secured the areas to prevent looting, while fire crews from multiple stations battled the flames and brought the situation under control.
No deaths were recorded, but traders returned to assess the damage and salvage goods.
Authorities have begun investigations into both incidents and urged the public to follow safety measures, especially in busy commercial areas.
