Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, Nigeria’s newly appointed Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, has vowed to transform the ministry into a central force for the country’s economic growth and technological progress.
Upon taking office, Udeh stressed the importance of prioritising innovation, science, and technology for Nigeria to compete globally. He assured that the ministry will focus on empowering young Nigerians to develop their talents, knowledge, and skills to address national challenges.
“We recognise that to become a leading nation, innovation, science, and technology must be taken seriously. We are committed to making this a priority, not just a title,” Udeh said.
He added that the ministry aims to harness innovation and technology to drive development, enhance security, and combat issues such as insurgency and terrorism.
The minister revealed that the ministry’s leadership has already identified immediate goals that will produce visible results soon, emphasising that their success will be judged by the positive changes they bring to Nigerians’ lives.
“We have agreed to work as a united team, focusing on quick wins that will allow us to deliver meaningful outcomes starting next week. We understand our responsibilities and promise not to disappoint Nigerians. Work has begun,” Udeh concluded.
