Details Of US Air Strike On Sokoto
Lawmakers at the National Assembly will receive a private briefing on the United States air operation carried out in Sokoto State, according to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The planned briefing follows air strikes launched by the United States in December 2025 against ISIS hideouts in parts of north-western Nigeria, including Sokoto.
The operation drew attention due to its scale and the sensitive nature of foreign military action on Nigerian soil.
Akpabio made the disclosure during plenary on Wednesday after Senator Abdul Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central, raised a matter of privilege on the floor of the Senate.
The issue centred on concerns around the operation and the need for lawmakers to be properly informed.
The Senate President said the details of the strike would be shared with senators behind closed doors, noting that such security matters require careful handling.
He assured members that the briefing would address concerns raised and provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the air raid
